I Hope You Get This Message is a book about 3 teens all finding themselves in different situations of finding not only their long-lost loved ones, but themselves as well. Here is my take on it (since I had just recently finished it, and yes it did take me almost a year to read because I procrastinated too much, but recently I had managed to put myself onto a schedule of reading 30 minutes each day since I learned in Max Joseph's How to Read in the Golden Age of Content, reading 30 minutes everyday in one year can get you to reading 5 books within that year, which I think is good because I love books, just didn't have the same brain capacity as I used to.) *NOTE: Possible spoilers, but I plan on not spoiling as much, such as ending, etc. I will mainly be talking about character analysis and quotes: Let's start off with the starting character, Jesse- a gay, teenage boy who is finding his humanity within the end of the world. For my first impression, I thought he was very misunderstood, but also very reserved or introverted, I would say which kind of made him that way. His relationship with himself was very tattered, he was very infamous when it comes to bad things in Roswell according to the book, but I chose to believe that due to his more reticent-self, his words did not speak, but his actions did. Within the book, people thought he was a bad guy who intercepted with people's hope just to gain profit off of it, he even thought he was a piece of shit himself. But, in reality, he just wanted to save money up to go to Cali with his mother and pay the debt his dead father had left him, regardless if he was to be beaten up and so on. One of my favourite quotes that they had mentioned about him was the one after him and his 'boyfriend' broke up: "And Jesse would stay here. Jesse would always stay here. Above him, the stars were winking. Gloating, maybe. Or maybe they felt sorry for him, too." He was my favorite (Not cause he's gay like me... I mean, kinda. I'm just kidding. Not really. No, I was.) because his lines and character development were the best ones in the book. My second favourite was Adeem. He was technically abandoned and left behind by his older sister, which he loved very much. I love Adeem's story, it reminded me of Miles Morales' story. Although, this one slightly is in contrast because he is finding his sister who had come out as lesbian and then left, he had no way of finding her until he found a message from his radio by his sister that was meant for someone else, thus making him search for her days before the end of the world. From my perspective, he was one of the most reasonable ones out of the group, his feelings were valid. But, he was also very forgiving. Adeem was a smart character and his reasonable persona led him to one of my favorite quotes of his, "Everyone tells us we have to follow the same blueprint: You gotta go to school. Graduate. Go to college, if you want the best job. Get married. Make babies. Work some more, get promoted. Then, you retire. We want, and want, and want, and then we die. Then people say, Oh, what a great life that person led. But that's not living. It's just a way to exist." Alright, so... last one is Cate. She's kind of my least favorite. Yes, her father did leave her and she has a psychopathic mom. But, most of her actions led her to some decisions that I think was poorly made, like being too... nice. Too nice to let strangers who believe in some type of cult to be their friend or maybe too adventurous that she would y'know try and kiss some boy who she barely knew and was obviously burning of alcohol. However, through it all, I did like her. I liked her because she was still caring and kind, even though she was a bit stubborn. She had a bucket list of what to do, even though she would do it at the end of the world which kind of messed up their plan. I did see a bit of character development, but.. not as much as the other two. But, I do like the quotes that the author adds into her story, such as: "Cate missed a man she'd never even met. Cling to memories she'd never had." Maybe Cate and I did have something in common, like y'know *our dads are dead* ahem, BUT I don't like a freshman... I swear,

WARNING:SOME SPOILERS & talks on movies that include gore, harm, etc. As Halloween gives its own peek-a-boo this month, horror movies arise and spooky stories come together for the spooky season. Here are a few gut-wrenching, horrific movies that could actually put you on the edge of your seat. (Note: these are based off of my own preferences of how I handle gore and horror) MIDSOMMAR This movie seems to be a tad boring during its first half, talking about how Dani lived before her family had recently passed due to her sister killing both of her parents after sending an anonymous message of "Everything's going dark" This somewhat leads to her boyfriend asking her to come with his friends to Sweden to see the ceremonies and be able to write about their theses towards it. This movie is amazing, but not good for people with very bad stomachs and have difficulty with gore itself. I watched horror and thrillers for a very long time, usually it's something I just laugh about and/or fall asleep to in the cinema and people have to wake me up because it's the 'best part' (But, generally, I fall asleep in cinemas because it's cold, that's not the point though) I have watched films as a kid such as 'Shake, Rattle, and Roll', 2004's Shutter, The Ring, and all other Asian films that I watched and later on had to critique since I had to do so when I joined this club for watching movies and such. And, also gore, I watched Final Destination, Saw, and others. I don't know if I was just hungry or what, but this movie had made my stomach clench. The cinematography and symbolisation in the movie is amazing, they portray mental illness, cults, and much more in this movie. I would definitely recommend, but beware because there is some really graphic gore, suicide, etc. and may trigger some people watching the movie. HEREDITARY I'm not even going to put a gif of it because most of the gifs are gory and such, but here's the trailer! 😁 Hereditary Trailer #1 (2018) | Movieclips Trailers In my personal opinion, even the simple scene of the head banging, the acting and cinematography (and the music!) really gives it the disturbing feel and can definitely make you hide half of your eyeball into the covers because this is gruesome, however I did find a bit of it funny. ONLY BECAUSE OF NAT WOLFF'S FACE, no offense to Nat Wolff. His acting was amazing, it was just his nose and his puffy eyes and swollen jaw that just made me laugh a bit. But, the whole vibe of the movie just had something off to it, the monologues were perfectly well read and acted out as well. The improvisation of their emotions towards each of its scenes is just... breathtaking. Again, not for the faint of heart, there's a lot of gore and disturbing stuff in here. US Ooh lord Jesus has blessed me with this movie, this movie has so much twists and turns, it's freaking crazy! All the hallucinations and the dopplegangers, I don't even have any words. Basically, it's a movie about how a family vacation turns to chaos when a bunch of dopplegangers come to wreck a family and take their place in the world, saying that they are "just like us" which I honestly don't get cause the other family can't even talk and only grunt and groan and only one person can talk. But, yet again, the cinematography is amazing and hidden messages on who "The Tethered" is and also knowing the process of "De-Tethering". It is kind of funny because one of them starts chasing Gabe and sound like a bird or something like it's scary. I do kind of make horror movies funnier, like how "The New Mutants" was supposed to be scary (kinda wasn't, but LGBTQ+ representation and mental health symbolisation is pretty good) I made jokes the whole time, since I was... kind of disappointed. But, this movie does include gore. A bit milder than the last two, but better with lots of bigger meanings and odd film additions like random bunnies which are supposedly - ah, just watch it, you'll see. MA Now, this movie is much, much lighter than the others. Like, way lighter. Cinematography and symbolisation was mild, however I love a group of teenage friends that are in a horror movie trying to survive type of movie. And, since most of the movies I showed were really gory and what-not, might as well put one for something more lighthearted. Although Ma was supposedly a scary movie, I would say its funnier than scary, and when I say funny: Yeah, I did laugh when Ma sewed this girl's lips together and cut this man's arm and put dog's blood in him or... something? Don't remember, but Ma is a bit graphic. And, yeah it did make me say, "You're so freaking dumb" because the characters were kinda... dumb. However, I love Diana Silvers and Octavia Spencer. And, once again, Miss Spencer has wow-ed us with her amazingly creepy and psychopathic performance. Definitely a funny movie that also has very slight gore in it, if you are willing to watch. Ma Trailer #1 (2019) | Movieclips Trailers Personally though, I'd love to see more films with Southeast Asian representation, like please just... just cast me. It's fine if I die first, you know, just... cast me... I could literally be raking leaves in the background and be blurry and look like an actual speck... but I'll put it on my resume and IMDb. Just kidding I don't have an IMDb... or do I? Just kidding, I don't. But, I do have a resume... with like two things on it... but whatever :)

Ah, finally. I can write about all things anime. The title is based off of a rock song by closure. cool, huh? Well, here's my critique on what a person's favourite anime is. So, let's start off with people who watch Dragonball Z. No offense, but the 2009 live-action movie of Dragonball Z is eh. Goku was white, which I didn't understand since almost the whole cast was Asian. So, why not have an Asian person portray Goku as well? But, in my opinion, Dragonball Z is just eh. Didn't see what the hype was, and most DBZ fans only watch DBZ. Anyone who watches this has most probably watched this way back and only watched a few animes or a million, no inbetween. He/she will probably be into old-school animes as well. Oh, and probably argue on very controversial topics like: "Goku is the strongest-" Onto Haikyu!! I'll just say the anime was really good, boring at first. However, within the next few episodes, it's truly worth the watch. Fun fact: I used to call it Haikyuu! but, turned out that the double u's at the end were mainly fan-based so I decided to just call it by its name on Netflix. I'll say the anime is actually really influential and inspiring in terms of hardwork, dedication, and sports. But, there's also a lot about teamwork, growth, and other things in the show that make it amazing. Anyone who watches this probably has wanted to become a volleyball player or is inspired to do a sport, probably likes yao, and loves reading the chats on Twitter. If you watched My Hero Academia, I hope you're not toxic because the fandom is. And, everyone knows not to disagree with a BNHA stan when they say "Todoroki is my favorite and BNHA is the best anime" because some fans are just- ruthless. But, as a BNHA stan ( who isn't really too much of an arguing person ), the franchise itself is amazing. I personally love it and can watch it over and over again, specifically when they were at the camp. One of my favorite episodes by the way. If you are a BNHA stan, you probably love superheroes and is probably smart and hardworking, kinda based off of the fact that they are in an elite school and in class 1-A. And, by the way, Japan and a lot of other Asian schools have a student's intelligence based off of an alphabetical scale, meaning A is the best and lowest is F. Depending on how many classes there are, of course. Danganronpa. You're probably really weird, but have really cool analytical and intelligent guesses towards things. And, you like gore and murder mysteries because duh- it's Danganronpa. I love Danganronpa, along with all the other game-based animes, such as Corpse Party. However, the only thing that I don't like is the confusing episodes. There's at least 3 arcs which 2 of them you have to watch simultaneously and the last arc is an ending. Along with the fact that you have to somewhat watch the games as well, which gets boring since there aren't any voices all throughout the gameplay. HunterxHunter goes different ways, you're probably non-chalant and know a few animes from way back like One Piece, Bleach!, etc. And, also I like all main characters by the way, they all have backstories which I love and I am currently re-watching! Anime is basically apart of my life. I started watching anime and drawing as a kid and owned a few mangas as well. My favorite anime characters were all Vocaloid characters, and I wanted to have Lucy's keys from Fairytail. And, yes. I did cosplay as Miku Hatsune, but we're not going to talk about it since it's kinda embarassing.
